An Inconstant Shore

As black turns to white the fury of the night has dissipated and the still dawn brings with it a brightness that aches the eyes. A reminder that order and chaos co-exist, as those two sisters, Melpo and Thalia, having carried a great load and in the morning laid it down to rest. And so the sea’s edge softly advances and retreats, advances and retreats, exhausted from the night’s exertions seeming now to sleep in its hissing breath.
