Our Fire

by Poetic Rizz

Original poem "Us" by Claudette

Love

Poetry Now Version

I’m a wildfire,

you a lone flame,

I burned with desire,

you stayed cool in the game.

I’m all about the heat,

you’re steady and clear,

I was loud in my passion,

but you never showed fear.

I’m easily swayed by sights,

you keep your eyes on the prize,

while I danced in the light,

you just smiled and stayed wise.

I’m a canvas of bright hues,

you a calm shade of grey,

together we’re art in motion—

growing old is our masterpiece.

Original Poem

Me... a blazing fire

you... a solitary candle

I was passion and desire

I was always hard to handle

Me... so open, full of life

you... so private and sincere

I thought you were too precise

you thought I was never clear

Me... so trusting and so warm

you... so cautious and reserved

I was like a thunderstorm

yet you never were perturbed

Me... so easily distracted

you... so focused on the task

while I entertained our friends

you would smile at me and bask

Me... a multitude of colour

you... a steady hand to hold

don't we complement each other

as together we grow old...
