Dreaming with My Eyes Wide Open
by Poetic Rizz
Original poem "Restless Nights" by Benn Nicholas Dillon
Poetry Now Version
I can't sleep.
Tonight, I lie awake, and your memory is all I see.
Your image lingers behind my eyelids.
I can’t help but think of how you move—
so graceful, like an oak dancing in the spring breeze.
I’m lost in thoughts of how you speak—
so soothing, like gentle waves kissing the shore.
And your beauty? It’s a sight to behold—
as radiant as a sunset marking the day’s end,
and the night’s beginning.
Another sleepless night,
because you’re all I can think about.
— Poetic Rizz
Original Poem
I can't sleep
I'm lying here tonight and I keep thinking of you
Your image lingers behind my eyelids
Thinking about the way you move
So elegant, like an oak tree swaying on a spring breeze
Thinking about the way you talk
So calm, like tiny waves gently lapping at the shoreline
Thinking about your beauty
So glorious like the sunset
Which marks the end of another day
Preparing for the beginning of another night
Another night which I'm unable to sleep
Because I keep thinking of you
