Scattered

I learned to live in chapters,
 That never quite touched.
 To close one door gently,
 While another version of me,
Was already learning a different sky. But here,
 In this broken, breathing life,
I am learning to be myself in pieces. Not shattered,
 Just scattered across rooms,
With different light. In one world, I am steady,
 Soft-spoken, almost whole.
In another, I am loud with longing,
 Unraveled at the seams.
 And somewhere in between,
 I am the quiet witness,
 Trying to belong to both.
