Night

There is a loneliness I used to outrun, I filled every silence to keep it at bay. I told myself solitude swallowed the sun, that staying too still would just hollow the day. But now when it finds me, it doesn’t demand, it sits like a shadow that softens the light. Not empty, not aching, just quietly grand, in showing me I can endure my own night.
